ITAD Steps
1. Collect Used Computers and Peripherals
We begin by collecting decommissioned IT equipment such as laptops, desktops, monitors, servers, networking devices, and peripherals (e.g., keyboards, mice, printers) from client locations. Our team ensures proper handling and documentation during pickup to maintain asset traceability and compliance.
2. Transport to Warehouse
All collected assets are securely packed and transported to our certified ITAD facility. We ensure the transportation process follows data security protocols, including GPS tracking and chain-of-custody documentation, minimizing the risk of data breaches in transit.
3. Register the Products
Upon arrival at the warehouse, each asset is registered into our inventory system. This includes capturing key details such as asset type, serial number, make, model, and condition. The registration ensures every asset is tracked throughout the disposition process.
4. Certified Data Wipes – Using Blancco
To meet data protection and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, GDPR, HIPAA), all storage media undergo certified data erasure using Blancco, an industry-leading data sanitization tool. Certificates of erasure are generated for each asset and stored for client reporting.
5. Auditing and Separation
Assets are audited to verify inventory accuracy and assess condition. Items are then sorted into two categories:
-
Devices suitable for refurbishment and resale
-
Devices that are beyond repair and need to be broken down for recycling
This step ensures compliance, environmental responsibility, and maximum value recovery.
6.
1. Items Are Refurbished
Qualified equipment undergoes thorough refurbishment—this includes hardware upgrades, OS reinstallation, and quality testing. Devices are restored to full working condition, often with a warranty.
2. Items Are Broken Down and Separated
Non-functional or obsolete equipment is disassembled. Components such as circuit boards, plastics, metals, and cables are separated for material-specific recycling.
7.
1. Refurbished Items Are Sold
Refurbished assets are resold through approved resale channels, including wholesale, retail, and charitable donations. This generates value back to clients and promotes reuse, reducing e-waste.
2. Broken Materials Are Recycled
All non-reusable components are sent to certified downstream recycling partners. We ensure environmentally responsible processing, with a focus on landfill diversion and compliance with R2, e-Stewards, or local regulations.
8. Final Report
A comprehensive ITAD report is provided to the client, including:
-
Asset details and serial numbers
-
Data erasure certificates (Blancco)
-
Refurbishment and resale summary
-
Recycling documentation
-
Environmental impact metrics
This final report supports audit readiness, CSR initiatives, and IT lifecycle transparency.
